Prescription Medication Prevention
Prescription medications can improve health and save lives when used correctly. Prescription drugs are medications developed and manufactured in licensed laboratories under strict safety and quality standards by trained scientists and licensed professionals. Prevention starts with using medications safely, storing them securely, and disposing of unused medications properly. At Communicare Regional Prevention Center, we help communities reduce medication misuse through education, awareness, and practical prevention tools.
Take as Directed
Always follow the instructions from your healthcare provider or pharmacist. Do not take more, take extra doses, or use someone else’s medication.
Safe Storage
Keep medications in a secure location, out of reach of children, teens, and pets. Consider using a locked cabinet, lock bag, or other secure storage option.
Safe Disposal
Remove unused or expired medications from the home. Use permanent medication drop boxes, community take-back events, or approved disposal products when available.
