Mental health is an important part of overall health. Prevention starts with creating environments where people feel supported, connected, and able to build healthy coping skills. At Communicare Regional Prevention Center, we work with schools, families, workplaces, and communities to promote wellness, reduce stigma, and strengthen protective factors that support mental well-being.
Our prevention efforts focus on early education, resilience, connection, and helping people access support before challenges become crises. Whether you are a parent, educator, youth leader, employer, or community member, prevention starts with caring conversations and shared responsibility.
Strong protective factors can help reduce stress and support emotional health:
Positive relationships
Supportive family connections
Sense of belonging
Healthy coping skills
Physical activity
Sleep and self-care
Problem-solving skills
Access to trusted adults and mentors
Community connection
Purpose and hope
Talking openly about feelings
Teaching coping and problem-solving skills
Encouraging healthy friendships
Limiting stigma around asking for help
Promoting routines, sleep, and balance
Building confidence and strengths
